  • If a specific tea is unavailable on our website or in our catalog, it's likely because that tea is no longer in season or the supplier was unable to meet our high standards. However, Ilana is always happy to work directly with customers to help them find an alternative tea that suits their preferences.

  • Ilana is committed to using only authentic, natural ingredients in her teas. She personally sources each ingredient and hand-infuses them, such as using real vanilla beans or bergamot peels, rather than relying on artificial or heavily processed flavorings.

  • Inspired by the kitsune mask hanging above her beloved tea set, Ilana named her tea business "Smiling Fox Tea", reflecting her fondness for foxes. As she prepares the tea, Ilana imagines the mask's expression is one of delight.

    From a young age, I have been passionate about tea and have long aspired to turn this passion into a business. Over the past decade, I have honed my palate, extensively tasting and analyzing teas. I have hosted numerous public tea-tasting events at local shops and have created custom blends for friends and family for years. To share my expertise and enthusiasm with a wider audience, I maintain a regular tea review on Instagram and publish a monthly newsletter, "A Bit About Tea." In 2025, I founded Smiling Fox Tea.
